Most extension salons in South Florida treat hair extensions like a one-size install. We do not. The single biggest reason guests come to Signature Extensions in Delray Beach is because they tried extensions somewhere else and the install was too heavy, too obvious, or it damaged their natural hair. That outcome is preventable, and it starts with picking the right method for your real hair, not the method the salon makes the most money on.
This guide breaks down the four extension methods we install at our studio, who each one is right for, what it costs to maintain, and how to spot a bad install before you book.
Quick Answer: Which Method Is Right for You?
- Fine hair that needs subtle fullness: Invisible Beaded Wefts or Tape-Ins
- Medium-density hair that wants serious length: Invisible Beaded Wefts or K-Tips
- Thick hair that wants pop-of-color placement or face-framing: K-Tips
- Diffuse thinning, alopecia, or post-treatment regrowth: Mesh Integration Hair System
- Lowest profile, lowest budget entry point: Tape-Ins
If you are not sure which one fits, that is what the free consultation is for. We will look at your hair density and goals in person, and we will be honest if a method will not work for you.
1. Invisible Beaded Wefts
Hand-tied or machine-tied hair sewn onto a row of micro beads at the scalp. Easily our most popular method at the Delray Beach studio.
Best for: Medium-to-fine density hair that wants length, fullness, or both, without the weight of older sew-in methods.
Lasts: 8 to 10 weeks between move-ups. The hair itself lasts 9 to 12 months with proper care.
Maintenance: Move-up appointment every 8 to 10 weeks. The hair gets re-used until it ages out.
Why we like it for South Florida hair: Beaded wefts handle humidity well, dry quickly, and let your scalp breathe. They do not pull on fine hair the way older sew-in methods do.
2. K-Tips (Keratin Tip Bonds)
Individual strands of hair attached to your natural hair with a heat-activated keratin bond.
Best for: Medium-to-thick density hair that wants either dramatic length, dimensional color placement, or face-framing brightness.
Lasts: 3 to 4 months per install. Then we remove and re-install (the hair can sometimes be re-used).
Maintenance: No mid-cycle move-up needed, but you will need a removal and re-install every 3 to 4 months.
Why we love K-tips for color: Because each strand is independent, we can place darker pieces underneath and lighter pieces on top for natural dimension that you cannot fake with foils.
3. Tape-Ins
Pre-taped wefts pressed and bonded between two thin layers of your natural hair.
Best for: Guests who want the lightest, lowest-profile install, or anyone trying extensions for the first time at the lowest commitment level.
Lasts: 6 to 8 weeks between move-ups. Hair lasts 6 to 9 months with care.
Maintenance: Move-up every 6 to 8 weeks. The tape gets replaced each move-up.
Honest caveat: Tape-ins are the most affordable entry point, but they are not the right call for very fine or fragile hair, because the tape needs healthy strands above and below to grip.
4. Mesh Integration Hair System
A breathable, scalp-friendly mesh base with premium Remy hair attached, sized custom to your scalp pattern and blended with your natural hair around the perimeter.
Best for: Women with diffuse thinning, alopecia areata, traction alopecia, postpartum shedding, or post-chemotherapy regrowth. Also a strong option for guests who have tried traditional extensions and found them too heavy.
Lasts: 6 to 8 weeks between re-attachment visits. The mesh can be re-used multiple cycles depending on care.
Maintenance: Re-attachment every 6 to 8 weeks. The mesh stays in 24/7, so you sleep, shower, and live in it.
What makes it different: Most extension methods need a foundation of healthy hair to grip onto. Mesh integration does not. It is the right answer for guests who have been told they are not a candidate for traditional extensions.
How Much Do Hair Extensions Cost in Delray Beach?
The honest answer is that pricing depends on three things: the method, how much hair we need to install, and the quality of hair we are using. We use premium Remy hair only, color-matched at the studio.
At Signature Extensions, every install starts with a free consultation where we quote a real number based on your hair, plus the maintenance schedule and the option of Cherry financing if you want to spread the investment over time.

How to Spot a Bad Hair Extension Install (Before It's Your Hair)
If you are still shopping around, here are the red flags we hear about from guests who came to us after a bad experience elsewhere:
- No consultation, just a price quote. A real consultation looks at your hair density, color, and lifestyle before anyone quotes you.
- Synthetic or low-grade hair. If the salon will not tell you the hair brand or grade, ask. Premium Remy hair lasts 3 to 4 times longer than the cheap stuff.
- One-size install patterns. Your install pattern should be custom to your scalp, your density, and where you part your hair. Cookie-cutter patterns slip, show through, and stress your natural hair.
- No maintenance schedule offered. If they do not book your move-up before you leave, your hair is going to slip out of rotation. That is on them, not you.
- Pain after install. Extensions should feel light, not painful. If you walked out with a headache, that install was too tight.
